2026 Food Boxes for Children for low-income households with children
Save the Children provides food boxes to low-income households with children to improve children’s nutrition during the holidays.

[Application eligibility criteria]
Households that meet all the following application eligibility criteria
・Reside in Japan
*You can apply regardless of your nationality/resident status, including those who are in the process of applying for refugee status or provisional release.
・A household equivalent to a residential income tax income portion–exempt household in 2026, or a household that receives the full amount of the Child Rearing Allowance.
・Include dependent children (or a dependent child) between the ages of 0 and 17, as of April 1, 2026.
*Households with children aged 18 or older who are still enrolled in high school may be eligible. Please check the required document in the “Documents to Submit” section.

*We will provide one box per household regardless of number of household members at each distribution period.
*Recipients of the boxes will be selected by a draw among the eligible applicants if the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of boxes, and we may not be able to provide boxes to all eligible applicants.

< Households with only children aged 18 or older who are still enrolled in high school>
In addition to “Documents that can be submitted with a single document” or “Documents that can be submitted with multiple documents”, please submit a student ID that confirms the child is currently enrolled in high school.
If your household meets the eligibility criteria but you have difficulty submitting the above documents, please contact us using the inquiry form.
*If documents are required for each guardian, please submit one set for single parent households and two sets for two parent households. Even if you live with grandparents or adult siblings, you do not need to submit documents for them. However, in households where the child lives only with grandparents or only with siblings, those grandparents or siblings are considered guardians, and their documents are required.
*Even if you have multiple children, you only need to submit Form B for one child (under 18).
* The Notice of Determination for the Special Collection of Municipal and Prefectural Resident Tax for FY 2026 is usually handed to you by your employer between May and June or sent directly to your home. If you do not receive it, please check with your employer or relevant office.
* The Non Taxation Certificate and Taxation Certificate for FY 2026 are generally available at your local municipal office from early June. If you have a My Number Card, some municipalities also allow you to obtain these certificates at convenience store multi copy machines. For details, please check the website of your local municipality.

Please note that representatives are not permitted to receive items on behalf of the parent/guardian.

Your application will be reviewed, and we will notify you whether you will receive a box in summer, in winter, or both in early July.
Recipients of the boxes will be selected by a draw among the eligible applicants if the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of boxes.

-Summer boxes are scheduled to be shipped in mid-July.
-Winter boxes are scheduled to be shipped in early December.

◆[About the Food box for Children]
The Food Box for Children project is part of Save the Children's efforts to address child poverty in Japan. It aims to improve children’s access to food during long school holidays by supporting households with children facing economic difficulties. What we learn through this project will be used in our awareness-raising, policy advocacy, and public relations activities, with the aim of realizing measures to improve the food situation and well-being of all children.
◆[Review of the applications]
We will closely review your application along with the documents submitted to decide your eligibility. If any information in your application is found to be false, you may be asked to return the box. Please review the guidelines and application carefully before submission.
◆[About drawing]
If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of boxes available, Save the Children will conduct a drawing. If the eligibility criteria are not met, you will not receive a box, even if the number of applications does not reach the number of boxes available. Please note that we will not be able to provide any details about the selection process.
◆[Use of information Provided in the Application Form]
The information provided in the application form may be used for statistical analysis and programs of Save the Children such as awareness raising, policy advocacy and public relations activities, and program reports, in a manner that does not identify individuals. Applicants may be asked to participate in Save the Children surveys and interviews. In such cases, we will ask you again whether you are willing to cooperate.

Save the Children takes the protection of your personal information very seriously. We treat your personal information as confidential and will handle it in accordance with personal information protection legislation as well as with the terms of this statement. Personal information obtained at the time of application will be used for communication and procedures necessary for the implementation of this program including questionnaires and interview surveys and for provision of information to applicants with other activities of Save the Children. The personal information will be managed and stored responsibly by Save the Children with the storage period of five years after the completion of this program. Save the Children outsources packing, shipping, and other operations to contractors in implementing this program and signs a non-disclosure agreement for personal information with the contractors. Save the Children will disclose address, name, and telephone number of applicants (hereinafter referred to as "address and other information") to the contractors and its subcontractors as the personal information necessary for shipping, however the contractors and their subcontractors will use this information only for the purpose of packing and shipping, and will discard the disclosed address and other information as soon as this work is completed. In addition, translation, compilation, and analysis of the application information may be outsourced to professionals and companies with whom Save the Children enters into a subcontracting agreement, in such cases, your personal information will be protected under Save the Children’s Privacy Protection Principal Principles.
